about

"What was originally a thing is transformed by a person and becomes a thing with time or by the enormous force of nature."

This project started the day Daniel found a video cassette of his favorite film lying on the street. Upon arriving home and playing the tape, he realized that the original video had completely disappeared, resulting in a distorted image with bright colored bars that seemed to have a life of their own. Contrary to the dark atmosphere (so characteristic of Glitch) that he expected to find, his surprise at the striking colors of the video inspired him to create the work presented here.

Glitch's tape did not simply contain images, but also distorted sounds due to poor condition. Because of this, Daniel decided to send it to his friend Kazumi so that she could review the sounds and set the images with them. After lengthening the sound and changing its pitch, Kazumi realized that the result was very similar to the sound that crickets make at night.

This was extremely beautiful for her, realizing that something that began as just an object, after becoming a product, being bought, possessed and abandoned on the street, still contained “life”. The cassette was supposed to have returned to being a mere object, however, due to the force of nature and its incredible resilience, we present this unique and enigmatic work here.

about

Kazumi Sakoda Barcelona, Spain

I like the sound of the city. Sometimes it sounds musical. My project is to reproduce it in music. I build the sound of the city picked up on a cassette tape and the sampling keyboard to create a sound landscape. I'm a Barcelona-based solo project, but I also make music with artists from all over the world online.
